Honeybee Gardens Winter Buzz Box Unboxing

Today I have my honeybee gardens buzz box unboxing video. I actually managed to set up my camera before anyone got a hold of my box to open it! Last quarter I was not so fortunate...

Anyhoodles, two of the products in this box were ones to pick a color for from honeybee so I got my standard mascara that I always buy but I also got to try a new loos powder that I am hoping will replace an old bare minerals color that I just love!

Hard to kill house plants

This weeks video is all about all the plants that I can almost completely neglect and they can be just dandy or recover easily. All of these plants would be good for travelers for that very reason, and because they do ok or amazingly when not watered often.

How I pick out healthy houseplants

I really like buying plants in the clearance section. It's like a side hobby to my plant passion. In all my years perusing the clearance section and subsequently failing a lot at keeping plants alive I have a few tips to help you if you are looking to pick out healthy plants, especially from the clearance section.

I also rearranged my plants after this to accommodate my growing collection so I will need to have an update video soon especially since my cactus is blooming!!!!!

Planting up a head planter with succulents

Today I am planting up a head planter with succulents. I really like how it turned out but I mean if you put a bunch of succulents in a pot then its going to look good, am I right? I'm keeping this in my entryway along with some pale green and gray pumpkins for a soft fall look.

Autumn Buzz Box

Hey guys! I had originally planned to do a sit down unboxing video but I was to excited so that video was like... an hour long of me gushing over lipstick. This box is from Honey Bee Gardens and it's not exactly a subscription box because you order it every season. It isn't automatic which is nice because you don't need to go through anything to cancel it if you don't want it for that season.

I like honeybee gardens because the makeup is excellent quality with extracts that support your skin instead of harming it, and it is affordable. The colors stay on all day, the mascara never smudges, and it gives excellent coverage. Enjoy The video and scroll down for more of my thoughts.

HERE  is the link directly to the video on youtube.

These boxes are always a whole lot of fun and if they don't always then they almost always have a special beauty product like a lotion or bath bomb but in this case a delightful citrus hydrosol and a lovely soap that if I had edited down and posted the other video would have been a few few minutes of Thomas and I smelling and spraying each other like fools. Thomas (who is 4) loves getting packages (who doesn't?) and so he would't leave me alone especially after he smelled everything. It was a little crazy so I am going to do the best with translating my first impressions here beyond 'OOOO!" "Wow thats nice" and more "ooooo!"

The first thing I gravitated to was the lipstick because, well its shiny and I was really excited to see if I got the one I really wanted. San Fransisco wasn't an option on the drop down bar for some reason so on my order I just asked them if they could swap it in for the color I selected and they did! I would like to try the other color of course, but I really, really wanted San Francisco. It is such a beautiful color and it looks so nice with my skin tone. For comparison the foundation that I am wearing is in the shade Supernatural .  What I really like about their lipstick is that it doesn't smell or taste weird and it is moisturizing.

I don't really ever use lip liner because I just don't think about it but Zen is such a lovely color and it stays on (like a good liner should) so well and it doesn't feel odd. It doesn't feel as nice as the lipstick (which is hydrating and awesome sauce) but it feels more like a matte lipstick.

Then I smelled the soap. You can smell this through the packaging and wow is it so good! The scent is cinnamon latte and it smells perfect for autumn! I haven't tried it yet but their soap is always lovely.

The hydrosol was of course amazing! I have never had a citrus hydrosol before so I didn't know what to expect because ya know, hydrosols are usually kinda weird compared to the oil but this one is just delightful!

I couldn't decide on what eye shadow to get because their are so many beautiful colors but I have been reading Georgette Heyer books so Canterbury seamed like the obvious choice. Probably because horses. I don't know and you probably really have no idea but I am glad that I picked it. It is such a soft color that darkens up the lid in the most lovely way. I gravitate towards violet neutrals with my eye color because I think they look nice with my skin tone and eye color. I really don't feel like I need any other shadow with this color but I think it would look splendid with a lighter color as well.

They always put a cute little animal in the box as a token of their appreciation. Every purchase supports the animal fund that the company donates to no kill shelters.

Lastly the special gift of the season. They always put in a special gift, last season it was a cute reusable straw cup, once it was a nifty Himalayan salt heart that you can warm up. The bracelet is absolutely lovely and I love how it expands to fit over the hand however it is a bit loose and dangly for me to wear for every day. The quality is excellent as well.

I don't know if I just picked really good colors, or if everything is so good that you can't go wrong but I am extremely pleased with my buzz box this season.

We Got Puppies!

We have been looking for the right puppies for quite some time! Then, we got Vivi! We thought she was all we needed until these cute pups came along.

Their mom was rescued by an organization that was supposed to have fixed her but she got pregnant at the shelter so, puppies!!! We have rescued the majority of our pets but we wanted to try having puppies for the first time in over 20 years and boy is it fun! The mom is a ten pound poodle dachshund mix and she is just as sweet as can be! Gunthor seams to look and act the most like a dachshound but we cant figure out what the dad... or dads.... could be.

They are just so sweet and they have really big personalities. Star loves to run, jump, play, and give crazy kisses! She follows her big sisters Ziggy (short haired doxie) and ZIon (long haired doxie) everywhere and she would play with them all day if she could. Thor is pretty lazy in comparison but he still likes a good cuddle and loves to play fetch. But, mostly he likes to sleep and chew on sticks.

Enjoy the video! It includes right after we got them, the pups chasing pore vivi around, Ziggy and ZIon going crazy with anticipation to play with them, and the pups three weeks later playing in the yard.

You can watch the video directly on youtube by clicking THIS LINK HERE. Or right below.

He was playing with a cucumber... 10 weeks old.

Mini Aged Terra Cotta Pot DIY for Succulents and Air Plants

Hey guys! I painted a few terra cotta pots to look aged and to fit my home decor because it sounded like fun. Thats really the only reason why, haha! It would have been way easier to just white wash them but I really liked how they turned out with the texture on them and they really were fun to make!
To achieve this look I used white chalk paint, a warm gray or taupe chalk paint, small stiff paint brush, cloth and spray bottle, and a sealer. I used a glaze to seal mine.

Repotting some succulents

I've had some succulents that need repotting and I also got some cute pots at hobby lobby when they had their summer decor 80% off that I was very eager to plant up. In todays video I repotted two cacti, and arranged a few little pots. One of them is with some itty bitty babies that are just so cute!!!

Summer Garden Tour

My veggie garden this year has been doing so much better than last year. Last summer growing in ground was so hard! The soil hadn't been used in years and before only for crab grass which became another issue, and we started out with a horrible earwig problem. This year though, the raised beds solved almost all the issues. I say almost because I think that the fact that we have had very little moisture has contributed to not as many earwigs. I thought that they would be so bad in my garden where the water and food is, but I think because last year was pretty dry too that they aren't as bad now. I mean, I am no earwig expert so I really have no idea. This is all pure speculation on my part.

The plants that I thought would do good in the back bed all died and the ones that I wasn't so sure of are doing awesome! I am going to be having another update soon because we are getting fruit now!!!! I think everything that is left other than the herbs and the sweet potatoes is just fruit. Cucumber, peppers, watermelon, tomatoes, eggplant.... Yep all fruit! No wait! We have some carrots! Woohoo!

Soon I need to start my fall garden crops.  Even though we got such a late start, half the bed in the back is free so I can use that to get me started. And things like radishes grow so quickly that I can plant them a little later. I'm guessing that we will have a decently long growing season for the fall garden but I want to do hoop houses around the beds that I can use to keep greens longer. That will be so nice if I can convince my husband of my genius.

On to the video! If you want to like it, comment, subscribe, any of that coolness or just watch the video directly on youtube then please click THIS LINK.

Refinishing My Kitchen Table

When we bought our house a couple of years ago we were gifted this table. It needed refinished then and it has taken me this long to decide how I wanted to go about it.
My husband wanted it to be all wood still and not painted (I was thinking of painting it teal) but I really wanted a natural finish so I decided just to sand it all down and figure out what to do after that.

I kinda thought that it would be best to do something very durable like a polyurethane (so toxic) but I didn't want to do that for a whole bunch of reasons. So then I thought, well maybe I should do something natural like an oil finish or something, but those aren't particularly very natural either so I just decided that the table isn't even solid wood so who cares if the wax turns out awful and it gets all messed up. So I made the wax and boy am I glad I did!

In the video I show you the steps I took and I give more details on how it has been working out the last few weeks.

You can watch the video by clicking on it below or directly on youtube HERE.

DIY Stain and a Knife Block Makeover

Todays video is pretty cool. I have a box that my grandma gave me that I thought would be way awesome for some sort of outdoor table/storage/seat but I wanted it to look more finished so I made a stain and I also ended up waxing it with a homemade wax. (I'll post a video with that diy in it next week.) Also, my knife block was looking a little worse for wear so I painted it with chalk paint and distressed it a bit.

I like making my own stain because its crazy cheep and I like to avoid toxic junk as much as possible. The milk paint is a great alternative to other paints because it sticks on really well, you can get non toxic varieties pretty easily, and you can pretty much put whatever finish you want on it. In the case of my knife block I used mod podge because I had it on hand and it works so well as a finish especially for something that doesn't get crazy dirty and need a lot of scrubbing. I mean if you knife block needs a lot of scrubbing then I don't want to know what your doing.

Enjoy the video and as always you can watch it on you tube by clicking on the youtube-y thing on the video or following THIS LINK.

For the stain you basically take distilled vinegar, add in nails (rust), steel wool (gray), pennies (kinda blue green), or tea (tea), coffee (dark brown coffee color) or walnut shells (walnut, haha) and you get basically the color you would expect after letting it sit for a few days to a couple of weeks depending on how rich you want the color to be.
Then just apply with an old rag for a large surface or for something smaller a paper towel works fine. The paper towel starts to just break down after a bit so if you are staining a large surface then a rag works better.

Have fun and good luck with your projects!

My intuitive method for making bath salts without a recipe

Todays video has four different or actually maybe five different bath salts! They all use the same elements but just a bit different to make them custom for your needs. I make diy beauty stuff the same way I cook, using approximates and guesstimations and I also go by smell sometimes too. especially when I'm adding essential oils. I decided that I should show you a video on how I make them so you can learn how to make bath salts intuitively too.

As always you can click this link here to watch the video directly on youtube.

I love making bath salts but I never use a recipe. I don't think I ever have, its such an easy process that a recipe is unnecessary in my opinion. I figured that making a video to show my process would be helpful to those of you that don't know how to diy things like this without a recipe. Honestly its so easy and so much fun to be able to customize a recipe to yourself and your needs.

I start off with a base of epsom salt and a bit of oil. The oil is optional but you need something like epsom salt, sea salt, or Himalayan salt to have as your base. From there all you need is to decide if you want to add any oils, like bath oils or essential oils, if you want to add some sort of flowers or herbs, clays, charcoal, whatever you want. If your adding something like a hydrosol or bubble bath then you will need to let it dry out on a baking sheet.

Base Ingredient options:

  • Epsom salt
  • sea salt
  • Himalayan salt
  • MSM flakes
  • Essential oils
  • Bath oils
  • Bubble bath or body wash (be sure to click HERE to see how to use these properly)
Additional ingredients:

  • Same as above
  • Clay (white, green, rose, red, bentonite,)
  • Flowers or herbs (I prefer to crush/ grind these)
  • Citric acid
  • Baking soda (I have alkaline water so I usually don't use this, I prefer my bath to be more acidic)

Be sure to watch the video for more tips and have a great day!

DIY Glass Cleaner

This DIY glass cleaner is crazy easy to make. All you need is some distilled or reverse osmosis water and some isopropyl alcohol. You could also use a high proof clear grain alcohol without any added flavorings as well. I also added in some essential oils so that I can shake it up and have a linen or room spray too.

Some people use distilled vinegar instead of the alcohol but the vinegar isn't good for some seals and finishes that the spray might come in contact with so I like to stick with the alcohol instead.

Basically mix together half rubbing alcohol (I use 91%) and half water and put it in a spray bottle. My bottle hold two cups, so I use a cup of alcohol and a cup of reverse osmosis water.

In the video I also describe how to make nail polish remover. If you prefer to watch the video on youtube then click HERE.

Preserved Moss Terrarium diy

Hey guys, I have an extra long video for you so that I can show you why I like preserved moss, some things that I don't like about it, and how to make a preserved moss terrarium.

This is a full tutorial on how I make terrariums with preserved moss. I also give a few tips on making them with live moss. I basically make two because I decided that I wanted to use Himalayan salt as the centerpiece which I could do because their will be no moisture in this terrarium!

MyChelle Haul and Product Review

Hey guys! So today I have a big ol' review video for ya. I have used MyChelle products in the past but I kinda went a bit crazy a couple months ago.

Just real quick, this post is not sponored or anything, I just wanted to share my experience with you. :)

The only thing I usually buy a bunch of at a time is plants and groceries so getting so many new products at once was pretty crazy for me. Kind of overwhelming actually. It took me a bit to get to all the products because I'm used to savoring whatever new thing i get; taking the time to use each product for awhile and seeing how it works.

Anyway since I was spoiled a couple months ago I now have a pretty good experience of all of these products so I think my review is pretty complete. Well as complete as I ever am. I mean I do get distracted talking about why some scrubs are bad for your face, and how other products from other brands work, but I think that if you have been looking for natural skincare, a new brand, or have been interested in MyChelle then you will probably find this video helpful. I know I would have, i mean if I wasn't the one that made it and had the experience already... Any-hoodles, I will have another video up Saturday that is an update on some of my house plants. Once of my cactuses is blooming!!!!! And it is so pretty!

If you would like to go directly to youtube click THIS LINK. Otherwise go ahead and watch it below.

I think that the sweet treats is a great deal because the lip balm stuff is $12 on its own so your basically getting the scrub for like $3 which is awesome. Also When you get the lip collection your basically getting one lip product and the bag for free, and the bag is pretty nice too. It can fit all of the stuff in the video except for the cucumber spray. The shining stars is all small sizes of the products so I'm not sure if thats as good of a deal but its definitely nice to be able to try all the products before you buy the larger sizes.
They have a bunch of other skincare products and the cleansers are pretty much all affordable for most any budget which is great! I love it when companies have a good range of easily affordable products and ones for a higher budget. Which is also cool, because you can save money on some things, and spend a bit more on something that you could really benefit from, like a skin cream or serum thats going to be working for you for hours instead of like some crazy expensive cleanser that your going to use for a couple of minutes.

I think I love the shining stars duo and the tropical mask the best out of everything because they make my skin feel and look the best I think. Anyway I'm going to enjoy my tea, but if you would like to see any of the products I reviewed I have them all linked below. Have a great week!

What to do when your kefir grains don't work right and wont grow

If you've been having problems with your kefir grains, like they are getting crusty, or they wont grow, or your milk is turning sour before it turns into kefir, then you will want to watch the video below. I made this video to specifically address problems that you might be having with kefir grains.

Making kefir can be so easy and rewarding but making it every day is a lot of commitment so after research and practice I now can get my kefir grains to actually grow during the winter when I don't really use kefir that much. It's pretty darn simple to do, but I have a ton of other tips so if you want to know all my ticks then please do watch the video below or by clicking This Link Here.

How I water my succulents and cacti.

So this week I have two posts for you because I forgot to post my video from last week on here so I have two of them for you! One is this one and the other is a kefir grain video where I talk all about how to have success with kefir grains, how to keep them alive, and even how to get them to grow when your not making kefir. Anyhoodles todays post is how I water my succulents and cacti.

I water my succulents according to their individual preference. Some I water twice a week, some once, and the rest every two to three weeks. I fertilize them with an organic fertilizer every month except for during the winter. Some need fertilizer during the winter, it just depends on their growing season so be sure to check yours especially if you are wanting it to grow and bloom. It's pretty simple and easy to do but I do have a video for you that includes some new air plants that I just had to show you.

How I water all of my house plants

I have gotten a few questions about how I water all of my house plants so i decided to make a video about it. Now, this video is almost 30 minutes long, but it only takes me like 15 minutes at the most to water all of my plants. Anyway if you are interested in seeing how I water my plants watch the video below or click this link HERE to watch it.

I have some plants that I watch for the water to drain fast, like for my succulents, and others I want to see the water drain slower. For my plants that need more water I give them more especially if the soil is pretty dry, and I water it until the water soaks down slower. Then I mist all my plants that need misted, and I run water over my orchids to water them. So I put them in the sink and run the water so that it drains out of course and helps to wash away mineral build up. My air plants get a mix of soaking and misting during the week.
My succulents that need more water like my sting of pearls usually get watered every week with my other plants and then also when I water all of my other succulents and cacti. My African violets get fertilized every week, but my venus fly trap on the other hand never gets any fertilizer except for bugs every few weeks in one of its traps.

My routine is pretty simple and takes very little time out of my week. Before I water my plants I go through them all and clean them up, dust around them and then clean the floors. (I usually do this on one of my floor cleaning days.) After that I water all of my plants that need a drink. Then a couple times a week I check on my water loving plants and water any that need it and mist all the plants that like extra humidity. I live in a dry climate so thats why they need a little extra care but that takes less than five minutes.

Repotting and feeding my house plants

Hey! Today I'm showing you a video of us repotting some plants that need some care and some extra compost and how I feed all my house plants excluding the sad, sad, poor little orchid and my succulents which I have yet to get fertilizer for since they don't usually need it (depending on the type) and also because no where in my town has it right now. All the houseplants

I have quite a few house plants. I mean, I don't have near as many as I want, but I also have quite a few. Heck, this video is about thirty minutes long so obviously I have an obsession.

My mom and I were just talking about how if you were to have a hoarding problem then plants would be the best because its not really hoarding because they don't make things gross, and they don't really ruin your social life and when people come over to your house they think its awesome.
So, plants are definitely the best thing to have a lot of if your going to have way to many of something.

Anyway, here is my probably way to long video of my plants. Oh also the day after I filmed this I got more plants so thats the reason for this being my February 2018 tour because I bet I will do updates. Also, I actually enjoyed watching this video myself which is unusual so if you love houseplants then you will probably like this one.
